Savuti
Savuti Botswana
The Savuti Park is officialy a part of the Chobe National Park in Botswana, but due to its distance from the Chobe River and its own ecosystem, it deserves a separate description. Savuti derives its name from the Savuti channel that very sporadically fills with water. Savuti is located deep in the Chobe National Park in an extremely arid environment.

Wildlife
Savuti is well known for the Savuti lions as they were documented several times that made it their home. Apart from lion, elephants, buffaloes, African painted dogs, hyena, leopards, impala, kudu, giraffe and many species of birds live here. Savuti has a number of waterholes where water is pumped up deep from the ground and that makes finding animals a lot easier.
Accessibility
Savuti is accessible from Muchenje in the north and Khwai in the south. In both cases it is certainly a 3-4 hour drive before you reach the gate. The roads are deep sand from the north and from the south you have the choice between the marsh route and the sand route. The choice between the routes depends on the time of year. Fortunately, the park officers are happy to help you make the best choice.
Accommodations
In the park there are a few high-end lodges and 1 campsite with 14 places. The popularity and location of the campsites means that a visit to this part must be booked early (1 year in advance).
Parkfees
You pay the park entrance fee before entering the park at the park office. The costs for international customers with their own transport are BWP270 (approx. €20 per day per person and BWP115 (approx. €8) per car per day.
